Selena Gomez to star in The Sky Is Everywhere

Selena Gomez will star in and produce in new movie 'The Sky Is Everywhere'.

The 'Wizards of Waverly Place' actress has optioned the novel of the same name by Jandy Nelson through her production company July Moon and will take on the lead role of Lennie Walker, a shy girl whose life is turned upside down when her beloved older sister dies.

According to the synopsis of the book on Amazon.com: "Lennie plays second clarinet in the school orchestra and has always happily been second fiddle to her charismatic older sister, Bailey. Then Bailey dies suddenly, and Lennie is left at sea without her anchor. Overcome by emotion, Lennie soon finds herself torn between two boys: Bailey's boyfriend, Toby, and Joe, the charming and musically gifted new boy in town. While Toby can't see her without seeing Bailey and Joe sees her only for herself, each offers Lennie something she desperately needs. But ultimately, it's up to Lennie to find her own way toward what she really needs - without Bailey."

Selena filmed her final episodes of Disney TV show 'Wizards of Waverly Place' last year and has previously revealed she wants to focus on movies for the immediate future.

She said: "My TV show filmed its last episode last year so I would love to do a little bit more film work because I haven't done that much of it so far so I think that's the direction I want to go in next."

Selena Gomez Breaks Out Brilliant Blue Eyeshadow

Selena Gomez (Getty Images)

Selena Gomez (via Twitter) Has Selena Gomez entered her blue period? The starlet has been spotted sporting sapphire streaks in her hair and most recently, wearing sweeps of super-saturated indigo eyeshadow.

Selena shared the look with her fans, tweeting, "Regardless it's a blue eye shadow kinda day." Included was a picture of her wearing the electric shade. Along with most of her followers, we're loving the look and have been inspired to find a few product options for recreating the eye-opening effect.

To duplicate Selena's blue-hued style, we recommend sweeping on Make Up For Ever Eyeshadow in Matte Blue 159, NARS Eyeshadow in Outremer or MAC Eyeshadow in Atlantic Blue. Apply generously to upper lids and add a little along lower lash lines, too. For additional drama, line eyes with black pencil or liquid liner and finish with a few coats of volumizing mascara.

Selena Gomez Gets Her Groove on to Miley Cyrus' Song! - Gather Celebs News Channel

Selena Gomez not only has a pop sensation boyfriend in Justin Bieber and a best friend in fellow singer-starlet Taylor Swift, she's also apparently a big fan of another young entertainer (and fellow Disney star): Miley Cyrus. Gomez was reportedly seen at the Luis Munoz Marin Airport in Puerto Rico on Monday afternoon with her so-called entourage, which most likely included her band members from the Scene. They were en route to Panama for another concert, but the "Who Says" songstress wasn't humming the lyrics to her own songs. Instead she was moving and grooving to a popular beat by Cyrus!

File:Selena Gomez Music Awards 2009.jpgWhile grabbing a bite to eat at the airport's Tropical D'lights Bar & Grill, Gomez was seen "bobbing her head and singing along to Miley Cyrus' 'Party in the USA'," according to Celebuzz. A waiter at the restaurant also confirmed she was "sweet" and "beautiful," but most fans already are aware of that little piece of info. It's always so fascinating to see what kind of music (other than their own!) popular entertainers like Selena Gomez gravitate towards. After successful stage time in Puerto Rico, not to mention some time with her main guy, Justin Bieber, who visited her there, Gomez must have been feeling the "Party" vibe.

Selena Gomez may be a fan of Miley Cyrus' music, but it looks like she may also be taking a page from the former Hannah Montana's style playbook. At the airport, Gomez went super-casual, slightly grungy, but also a bit sexy with an ensemble that daresay resembled a Cyrus outfit. Daily Mail has the photos of her fashion statement, which included super-short lace hot pants paired with a ripped sheer white T-shirt through which her hot pink bra was easily glimpsed. She also wore a long patterned cardigan over it all. Short shorts and sheer shirts? Definitely hints of Miley moments, there... of course, she would have probably skipped the bra.

Selena Gomez Locks In Next Film Project - MTV.com

As Selena Gomez maps out her post-"Wizards of Waverly Place" career, her projects continue to be more and more diverse.

Gomez is attached to produce and most likely star in the big-screen adaptation of the Jandy Nelson novel "The Sky is Everywhere." Gomez will not only play the part of producer but could potentially land the novel's lead role of Lennie Walker, Deadline reports.

Lennie is a 17-year-old nerd-type who loses her older, outgoing sister, Bailey. After Bailey dies, Lennie must step out of her sister's shadow when she falls for two guys (one of whom was Bailey's boyfriend). No word on who is attached to star in the other key parts of the movie. Before she hits the set for "The Sky is Everywhere," Gomez already has some other films lined up. The actress/singer will shoot the darker "Spring Breakers" early this year and has been rumored to be attached to a film called "Hot Mess."

When Gomez spoke to MTV News late last year, she shared that she didn't have any big expectations going into 2012. It seems that game plan is working for her. "I feel like this approach of this year, I wasn't expecting any of the things that happened," she said. "And so I just kind of want to go into the end of this year and the beginning of next year just excited and in a good place and not planning anything."

Selena Gomez - Wizards of Waverly Place Nominated for NAACP Award - BSCkids

While Wizards of Waverly Place took its last bow earlier this month, the show received a nomination for an award in the NAACP Image Awards.

The hit Disney Channel show is up for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series.  The writers Vince Cheung and Ben Montanio are the ones to receive the award if they win for their writing on the Wizards Vs Angels episodes.  NAACP is the accolade presented by the American National Association for the Advancement of Colored People to award outstanding people of color in film, television, music and literature.  The 35 categories of Image Awards are voted on by members of the NAACP. There are also honorary awards, including the President’s Award, the Chairman’s Award, Entertainer of the Year and The Image Award Hall of Fame.

Selena Gomez the breakout star of the show will be moving on to bigger acting roles this year with two movies scheduled and already in motion.  The singer and actress has garnered herself a great reputation for her wholesome but mature image, but with one of her roles for this year pushing at those boundaries it will be hard to know if that image will remain.  What do you think of the accolade?  Are you sad that Wizards of Waverly place is no longer airing?

Exclusive: Selena Gomez Talks Acting in 'Spring Breakers' And 'Hot Mess' Jan ... - Cambio

WireImage

Recently Cambio was invited to Selena Gomez's Unicef Benefit Concert, and we had a blast! The energy at the House of Blues was awesome, and the acoustic concert (which also starred the hotties of Big Time Rush) was a great new way to see Selena live.

While there, Selena took the time to talk to us about a few of her upcoming acting projects this year. As you'll remember, Selena is taking a break from music to focus on her acting in 2012.

One of the upcoming roles, which shows Selena in a whole new light, is in the film Spring Breakers, also starring James Franco and Vanessa Hudgens. This movie is a much "darker" role, Selena tells us, as she ends up in a drug ring and behind bars. We can't wait to see her pull this off!

More than anything, Selena tells us she is looking for roles that are challenging and also allow her to travel and have fun. Smart girl!

We also asked Selena about her dream role, and we think you will be surprised by her response. Watch the clip to hear about where you can see her on the big screen in the upcoming year, as well as what her dream role is.

Casting Bits: Selena Gomez in 'The Sky is Everywhere', Rob Riggle, Brian ... - /FILM (blog)

Now that her hit Disney series Wizards of Waverly Place has come to an end, Selena Gomez has been trying to make the transition into non-Disney movies with projects ranging from last year’s Monte Carlo to the upcoming Harmony Korine-directed Spring Breakers. The latest addition to her slate is The Sky is Everywhere, an adaptation of Jandy Nelson‘s YA romance of the same title. Gomez will produce the film through her shingle July Moon, developing it as a star vehicle for herself.

The plot follows Lennie, an introverted band geek who’s used to being overshadowed by her much more outgoing older sister Bailey. When Bailey suddenly dies, however, Lennie struggles to cope and soon finds herself torn between two guys: her dead sister’s boyfriend Toby and a charismatic, musically gifted new boy named Joe. The teen love triangle is nothing new, but the book’s received pretty good reviews; if the film version actually brings some nuance to the tearjerker premise, it could be a chance for Gomez to show what she can do. [Deadline]

After the jump, a trio of funnymen go to hell.

Rob Riggle, Brian Posehn, and Kumail Nanjiani have signed on for Hell & Back, an R-rated stop-motion comedy also featuring the voices of T.J. Miller and Nick Swardson. Tom Gianas and Ross Shuman are directing the picture, which centers around two buddies who must come to the rescue when a third friend is accidentally dragged to hell. Riggle is signed on to voice a 20-year-old who’s maturing, in spite of the obvious annoyance of his pals Augie and Remy. Posehn will play an aging metalhead still obsessed with the ’80s, while Nanjiani will play an employee of hell named Sam the Demon.

Riggle has a handful of projects due out this year, including Big Miracle, The Lorax, 21 Jump Street, and an untitled project by Todd Rohal. Posehn will appear in April’s The Five-Year Engagement, which stars Jason Segel, Emily Blunt, and Alison Brie. Nanjiani currently stars in TNT’s Franklin & Bash, and has worked on the TV series Googy and Michael & Michael Have Issues. [Variety]

Selena Gomez Matches Head To Toe In Color-Coordinated Hair And Performance Outfit

Selena Gomez matches her Puerto Rico performance outfit to her blue-purple hair.
Photo: Splash News

Just when we thought Justin Bieber's thing for matching was something to write home about, girlfriend Selena Gomez serves the world a color-coordinated one-up with this SUPER matching ensemble. Every inch of this girl's Puerto Rico Colesium performance outfit has a counterpart. The sparkle of her rhinestone encrusted microphone is mirrored in the bejeweled stripes across her gem and pearl laden high-waisted hotpants situation. The soft gold sheen of her metallic sandals echo girl's stage-ready mile-long stems. And of course, the violet of Sel's plunging halter neckline and floor-length pleated half-skirt strikes the perfect complementary hue between the electric blues and purples of Selena's newly colorful hair. The question is, though: which came first, the outfit or the hair?

Okay, so it's kind of an easy question. Obviously, it takes a heck of a lot more time (designing, sewing, multiple fittings) to whip up a glamorous stage ensemble, rippling in so much chiffon and embellishment as this one than to see the effects of a box of Manic Panic on your head. That said, we're assuming Sel was inspired by the cool hues of this peformance look for her freshly dyed tresses, BUT let's pause for a hot second here, and reflect on how consummately #dedication it is for Selena to SEMI-PERMANENTLY alter her apperance for the good of her tour, AMIRITE?? Wow. *single happy tear and also hearts*

Tuned In: Selena Gomez Is Headed to the Congo, Practically a Saint

(Getty)

Serial do-gooder Selena Gomez (Getty)
Both Selena Gomez and her Canadian pop tart boyfriend Justin Bieber are serious about giving back to the community, but it's Gomez who's going the distance this April on a humanitarian mission: She's planning a trip to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She's just like Angelina Jolie, except she never made out with her own brother at the Oscars or got married in a shirt painted with blood!

Also in music news, Selena's buddy Demi Lovato issued a passive aggressive goodbye to her Twitter fans, Kanye displeased fans Down Under, Paris Hilton might have cooked something up with LMFAO, and there will be new Fiona Apple music in a matter of weeks!

  •  At her UNICEF benefit concert over the weekend, Selena Gomez revealed her plans to visit the war-ravaged Democratic Republic of the Congo in a few months. "We first went to Ghana and then we went to Chile," Gomez told E! News. "In April, we're going to go somewhere a little harder, the Congo...The first trips were to ease me into it."

Gomez, who raised over $200,000 for UNICEF with her concert, says she was inspired to make the voyage to Africa by her pal Joel Madden. "He said it was the most intense thing he had ever done in his entire lifeâ€"and the best thing he had ever done."

Gomez isn't the only teen star to do her part for the global good, of course. Just this week, the music video for Miley Cyrus' cover of Bob Dylan's "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go" for Amnesty International was released. All eyes on you, Demi Lovato!

Tweet-free, but for how long? (Getty)
  •  Demi does good too, only unlike her ex-Disney colleagues she can't tweet about her work with anti-bullying organizations 'cause she's not tweeting anymore.

There are a couple of different theories as to why Lovato tweeted the following on Saturday: "Twitter break. It's for the best actually. Who allows me to have this thing anyways?!!! I just get myself in trouble! Haha. Anyway... BYE!"

Theory 1: Her tweets about not needing a man were interpreted as proof she'd broken up with her much-older manfriend Wilmer Valderrama.

Theory 2: She was tired of catching flack for this really fake looking bra photo that was circulating on the Internet last week.

Theory 3: She reads blind items.

Whatever the case, Lovatics shouldn't fret: Demi's tweet-breaks never last too long.

Kanye West at Big Day Out. (Getty)
  •  Kanye West ticked off a bunch of people in Australia, including Soundgarden's Chris Cornell, after he showed up 45 minutes late for his headlining gig at the Big Day Out music festival.

Cornell, none too happy that West's beats could be heard during his own band's set, angrily told the crowd, "Sounds like there's children playing music there, retarded children, retarded as in 'held back.' There's no other word for it." He later clarified that he meant the production team, not Kanye, since obviously he wants to be a part of that DONDA organization West tweet-ranted about a few weeks ago.

West's got a line for that: "You should be honored by my lateness!"

  •  Paris Hilton has enlisted some hairy dudes to help with her comeback single. Hilton told MTV News, "I was just in the studio with RedFoo the other night, so we're going to be doing my new single with LMFAO."

Paris, who says she's been friends with the SkyBlu and Redfoo since before they adopted ridiculous nicknames, promises things are going to be different this time around: "I'm going with a whole new genre. I have Afrojack executive-producing the entire album. So we've just been coming up with the most incredible tracks.

  •  Fiona Apple will finally release new music in 2012, at least according to Epic Records chairman L.A. Reid. The exec tweeted Sunday, "Lots of good music coming from @Epic_Records in the next few weeks. Stay tuned music fans. Welcome back Fiona!”

An Epic Records spokesperson clarified that Apple's music will indeed be released this year, although not necessarily in the next couple of weeks. This will be Apple's first release since 2005's Extraordinary Machine. I can't wait until her next round of painfully awkward late night talk show interviews!

Selena Gomez to take a break from music

Selena Gomez is taking a break from music.

The singer-and-actress wants to concentrate on her acting career for most of 2012 so her fourth album probably won't be out until next year.

She told Front Row Live: 'I'm gonna do my South America tour, which I'm excited about and then I'm gonna take a little break from music and do two films, which will probably take up most of my year. And then I'll start working slowly on a fourth album towards the end of the year so I won't have anything new out this year. But then again, I'm so anxious with music that I'll probably release something in November!'

While she wants to concentrate on acting, Selena - who is dating Justin Bieber - is also keen to collaborate with singer Noah Guthrie.

She said: 'My family manage him and I really love his work. I'd like to do something with him. There's two songs of his that I love of his that I want to hopefully get on, so that would be nice.'

She performed at The House of Blues in Los Angeles on Monday (23Jan12) to raise $200,000 (£125,000) for the charity, and revealed she is gearing up for a trip to the Congo after a word of encouragement from fellow Unicef ambassador Joel Madden.

Selena Gomez asked fans to vote on the scents they wanted to be incorporated in her new fragrance, and the results are in.

The 19-year-old singer's fans chose raspberry for the top note, freesia for the heart note and vanilla for base note. The poll results were announced on Sel's official website for the forthcoming perfume.

"I am very excited to share this new perfume with each and every one of you," Selena wrote in an email to all who participated. "Please stay tuned for information regarding the launch of my fragrance, available at Macy's this May, and for the announcement of our 10 lucky winners who will be flown out to New York to help me make my final decision. Again, thank you for your help!"

Selena says she wants her forthcoming product to "be really romantic." She adds, "I want it to be sweet and sophisticated." Do you think she'll achieve that with the notes her fans chose? Check out a sneak peek of Selena's colorful fragrance ads, and let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Gomez kicked off her South American Tour in Puerto Rico, a country that most definitely is not in South America. But hey, she's a pop star, not a master of geography. So we'll let this one slide. "Puerto Rico-- 4 hours til show time, so excited to be back such a fun place to kick off my South American Tour..." she tweeted.

Bieber, meanwhile, has headed back to California where he appears ready to get back into the studio to record some new music. "heading back to cali to get back in the studio. #focused" he tweeted today. You see that #focused hashtag? That mean's he's not messing around.

Selena Gomez To Produce And Star In The Sky Is Everywhere. - Cinema Blend

You may know Selena Gomez for her acting on both television or in films or for her music career, but now she's ready to take another step in her career: producing. According to Deadline, Gomez and her production company, July Moon, has optioned the film rights to The Sky is Everywhere, the first book from author Jandy Nelson. In addition to bringing the pages to the silver screen, the actress/singer plans to star in the picture as well.

The plot follows Lennie Walker, an introverted 17-year-old geek who is constantly overshadowed by her older sister, named Bailey, who is her exact opposite. When Bailey dies unexpectedly, Lennie suddenly finds herself forced to fill her sibling's shoes. Part of this involves balancing two boys, - her "sister’s grieving boyfriend, the other a musically inclined transplant from Paris." As everything builds and builds she must try and work her life out or risk being crushed beneath it. In addition to her role on Wizards of Waverly Place, Gomez has been building a film career that has included projects like 2010's Ramona and Beezus and last year's Monte Carlo. She is also attached to star in Spring Breakers, the new movie from writer/director Harmony Korine. The article doesn't mention who will be writing or directing The Sky is Everywhere.

I think the plot of this project sounds intriguing and Jandy Nelson's book was the recipient of a lot of praise, but I do have one problem from the get-go: I don't buy Selena Gomez as an introverted band nerd. Then again, Emma Stone was able to make it work in Easy A, so who knows what Gomez can accomplish.

Selena Gomez Kisses 'Pretty Little Liars' Star Ashley Benson! But In The PG ... - Buzzworthy

Credit: Tumblr

Justin Bieber may have fired his "swag coach" Ryan Good, but that doesn't mean Biebs' girlfriend Selena Gomez had to stop being besties with Ryan's girlfriend, "Pretty Little Liars" actress Ashley Benson. How diplomatic of her!

This adorbz-overload photo was taken while Sel and Ashley were chilling in Cabo on a recent mini vacay. A few things to point out: When I'm "chilling," I'm lying around in sweats with no makeup and a ring of orange powder around my mouth from the gigantic bag of Cheetos I've just inhaled. But, unsurprisingly for Sel and Ashley, "chilling" actually means having perfectly coiffed hair, a killer smokey eye and just looking all kinds of hot. Also, HOW COME celebrities seem to look amazing when they do that whole "let me hold out my hand and take a picture of myself" move? When I try to do that, I end up looking like I've got about 86 chins and am in dire need of a nose job.

Moral of the story here is that celebrity pics always have been and always will be prettier, cooler and way more fun than normal people's. Thanks for invalidating my entire Facebook photo collection, girls.

Why Is Selena Gomez Going to the Congo?

How much do we love Selena Gomez?

Not only does the actress and pop star say she wants to help the less fortunate, she's actually doing something about it.

Selena Gomez and Big Time Rush Rock It - BSCkids

Selena Gomez might be gearing up for her break from music, but she has a few concerts left. This time she did a concert at the House of Blues for UNICEF and she had some very exciting performances. One includes a duet with Big Time Rush, but also her solo performances. You will find videos of all of her performances down below, if you are curious to hear one of her last few performances for 2012.

I am pleased to see that she is still finishing up what she started. I also think it is nice to see that she did a duet with Big Time Rush, which likely excited so many of their fans. It seems like they, Selena and Demi, must be pretty close. Then again, one of those guys is also from Dallas so that must have a huge role in playing in that factor for them all.

How do you feel about their duet? I thought it was a lovely touch, and best of all it was for charity. This is such a great excuse for them to do a duet and also spend time together. Selena seemed delighted to share the stage with them. I have a feeling that when/if she does come back to music that she will have a decent amount of duets on it.

Selena Gomez Pings Risque Vegas Style for Show (video) - TheImproper.com

Selena Gomez is feeling her sexy side with a Las Vegas style performance in Puerto Rico. She wore an electric blue showgirl costume with low-cut top and a high-cut flowing skirt that opened up to bikini shorts.

Gomez, who is touring South America, Central America and the Caribbean, signaled her plans to turn up the heat on her act when she added purple extensions to her hair. She also wore an eye-opening dress for her debut show.

“Puerto Ricoâ€" 4 hours til show time, so excited to be back such a fun place to kick off my South American Tour it’s like my second home. Love you all,” she wrote on her Facebook page.

Selena’s mini-tour will hit Panama City, Mexico City, Santiago, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paolo and Buenos Aires. The 10-stop trip is an extension of her “We Own the Night Tour” that began last year with her band The Seldom Scene.

Selena has been slowly leaving behind her squeaky clean Disney image for a more adult act. Although she hasn’t gone as far as former Disney star Miley Cyrus, she’s show more leg and cleavage than ever.

Latin pop stars generally wear flashy show costumes and are sexually provocative when they perform. Think Shakira. So Selena may be just trying to meet expectations. In any case, she’s managing to balance her sex appeal without compromising her image.

While we don't often promote infidelity here at Buzzworthy, we're totally loving Selena Gomez cheating on her recent musical retirement AND even sneaking an adulterous cuddle with a puppy other than her own, Bailer. We just have a really hard time feeling bad for a dog that also has Justin Bieber for a dad.

Selena recently joined the stage with Big Time Rush at the House Of Blues in Hollywood for an acoustic concert that raised over $200,000 for UNICEF, a foundation that focuses on ending world hunger. Selena took on saving the world by performing "Who Says," "Love You Like A Love Song" and even covered Jason Mraz's "I Won't Give Up" while snuggling with a puppy that belongs to one of the dudes in BTR -- everyone all together now: "Awwwww."

We're not exactly sure how the internet didn't implode from cuteness overload when this picture was first uploaded, but we can definitely promise that the puppy Selena held on stage has already lived a more exciting life than most of us. Pray to come back as a celebrity pet for your next round on earth, guys.

David Beckham made his sons' dreams come true over the weekend by introducing them to Disney star Selena Gomez.

The 36-year-old took Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, nine, and six-year-old Cruz to meet the 19-year-old singer and actress at a 2nd Annual Acoustic Charity Concert Benefiting UNICEF in Los Angeles on Friday.

The youngsters, who have already met her heartthrob boyfriend, Justin Bieber, 17,  looked rather chuffed as they posed with the brunette backstage at The House Of Blues on Sunset Boulevard.

The boys are clearly big fans of the star and their youngest sibling Harper shares the same name as a character from Selena's Disney show, Wizards of Waverly place.

After the successful event, which raised over $200,000, Selena kicked off her South American tour in a show-stopping outfit yesterday.

In a message to her fans on Facebook the excited 19-year-old gushed: ‘Puerto Rico - 4 hours til show time, so excited to be back such a fun place to kick off my South American Tour it's like my second home. Love you all.’

Meanwhile, David recently admitted that being a parent is ‘scary’.

The  football star - who also has a six-month-old daughter with Victoria - said that while watching his brood grow up is a ‘great experience’, it also terrifies him.

He said: ‘[Watching them grow up] is great but scary. Scary because I can see Brooklyn getting different interests. Wanting to go out with his friends, wanting to talk about girls, growing up into a young man.’

However, David admitted he is glad he has three sons rather than three daughters, as he knows he will worry about Harper more when she grows up to be a teenager.

He added in an interview with Britain’s Telegraph magazine: ‘I must admit I would rather it be three boys than three girls.

‘Well, by the time Harper is a teenager she's going to have three older brothers that are going to be, well, men.’

David recently revealed he is still in awe of Harper because of how different she is to his older children.

He said: ‘I've obviously got three amazing boys and with boys you can throw them around and Harper is obviously my first girl and I'm more careful. Still now, I'm changing her diaper and I can't believe I've got a girl.

‘Everything about her is feminine, the way she eats, the way she moves, the way she looks. I love having a girl, but I'm glad she's got three older brothers and a dad to look after her.’
